Kerosene (Heating Oil) is a huge part of our business especially during winter months when temperatures plummet. We can supply locally throughout the Midlands with our own dedicated fuel tankers or further afield via our network of trusted partners.

 What is Kerosene Heating Oil?

Kerosene is an Oil which is derived from petroleum and is widely used as a fuel in both aviation and households for heating. It is a versatile fuel and when used in Aviation it is known as A1 Kero and is a safer fuel for planes as it doesn’t freeze as easily as other fuels and it doesn’t burn as quickly at high temperature. It is also estimated to be an efficient burning fuel with efficiency around 16% better than Gas.

Kerosene is also known as Heating Oil, Kerosine, Kero, Paraffin, Boiler Oil, 28 Second Oil, and Lamp Oil. Kerosene is light in colour and has a hint of yellow dye added so it can be easily identified, It’s the most common fuel for homes that do not have access to mains Gas and for good reason.

Kerosene Better Value than Gas

Because kerosene is a by-product of petroleum and therefore relatively cheap to produce, Heating Oil has become the most cost-effective way of heating your home, yes, its now officially cheaper to heat your home with Kerosene than with mains Gas.

How to get the Best Price for your Heating Oil

The price of Heating Oil fluctuates daily as does most commonly used fuel such as at your local petrol station for example, however excluding world events such as a drone strike on a major oil pipeline there are 3 main factors to ensure you get the best price possible for heating your home.

The diagram below illustrates these 3 main factors to take into consideration when you’re thinking of purchasing Kerosene Heating Oil.

When to Buy

During the warmer months in summer is often a good time to buy as this is when demand is less which in turn can drive prices lower. Conversely the winter months are busier and tend to increase prices slightly when demand is high.

Another Tip is to check your tank regularly as to avoid emergency deliveries as these can cost significantly more for obvious reasons. So don’t leave your buying until the last minute or it could be a costly mistake.

Quantity to Buy

Generally the more you buy the cheaper the PPL (Pence per Litre); just buying with a neighbour or someone on the same road can help. Alternatively you may choose to join a buying Syndicate (mailto/domestic-heating-oil-kerosene-deliveries/) or you can try buying via an Oil Club such as: Oil-Club, Fueltool or ValueOils Clubs have many members in the same or similar post code areas so can often secure a good price.
